Prof. Firudin Agasioglu on Turkic roots of Caucasian Albanians

On August 20, 2020, Prof. Firudin Agasioglu Jalilov, a well-known Azerbaijani scholar, discussed the early Turkic roots of Azerbaijani people. He talked about the ancient proto-Turkic speaking tribes such as Kuti, lullubi, su, turukki, Skits, Sakhs, and others who established states in the territory of Azerbaijan. He noted that these states were able to create powerful states and established alliances with neighborhood states. According to Prof. Agasioglu, the historical materials by early Latin and Greek sources indicate that Alban/Albaniya/Aghvan/Aghvanq/Aran states established by Turkic speaking tribes such as Kimmers/Kamar, Sakhas/Iskits, Masagets/Maskat/Maskut, Kaspi, As/az, and non-Turkic tribes who were minority in South and North Azerbaijan.
