Simon Armitage reads ’Fugitives’ for the first time, Arnside & Silverdale AONB

On 21 September 2019, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty around the UK held simultaneous ’National Moment’ events where local people and visitors were invited to create heart in the landscape to demonstrate their love for the countryside and the wellbeing benefits being in nature brings. The event in Arnside & Silverdale AONB was chosen to host the poet laureate Simon Armitage, reading for the first his poem ’Fugitives’, which was commissioned by the National Association for AONBs to mark the 70th anniversary of the passing of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act.
