Israeli minister uses metaphor comparing Palestinians to bothersome flies that must be killed

“We are people who will not harm a fly… But if the fly bothers them, then it must be killed.” In an interview with state-owned Israeli television channel KAN 11, Israeli Minister of Heritage Amihai Eliyahu used a metaphor implying that Palestinians are like flies that should be killed if they bother Israelis while discussing Israel’s latest offensive on Gaza. Last week, air strikes launched by Israel killed at least 30 Palestinians including six children, according to the UN. Israel said it launched air strikes against Islamic Jihad militant sites, but civilian homes were also targeted.
