UN warns of ‘catastrophe’ as Hezbollah and Israel exchange rocket fire

The UN is warning of a ’catastrophe’ in the Middle East and called for restraint on all sides as Israel continues its intensive bombardement across southern Lebanon - while Hezbollah fired 150 rockets, cruise missiles and drones into northern Israel overnight, most of them intercepted by Israeli air defences. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his military had inflicted a series of heavy blows on Hezbollah that it ’never imagined’ and that it would soon ’get the message’.
