Vive L’entente Cordiale! (1927)

Item title reads: “ Vive l’entente cordiale. State visit of M. Gaston Doumergue - President of the French Republic. Honoured at Oxford University with Degree.“ Dover, London and Oxford M. Gaston Doumergue walks down the ship’s gangplank, with his hat in hand, followed by a guards officer, wearing a busby. They step onto the quayside and walk along with a naval officer, wearing a two cornered hat. They inspect the rows of waiting sailors. M. Doumergue and the guard officer walk along the station platform alongside the Pullman train carriages to a group of waiting officials and a brass band. He reads a speech, and is introduced to more officers wearing full military insignia., feathered hats, medals and sashes. M. Doumergue and the entourage leave the station walking past ranks of guardsmen, with hundreds of French and British flags hanging down, fluttering, above them. He is driven away in an open horse drawn carriage with footmen. The carriage moves away and is followed by ranks of mounted house
