Nankeen Kestrel hunting in slowmotion

Nankeen Kestrel (Falco cenchroides) catching a criquet in in slowmotion. Darryl, the rescue Nankeen Kestrel at the Arid Recovery office in Roxby Downs was learning to hunt and I took this opportunity to capture this behavior in slow motion. This is one of the best feature of our modern smartphones in my opinion. This was shot with an iPhone6 at 240 FPS (720p upscaled to 1080p). Click here if you want to see a 4K close up of this bird: The Nankeen Kestrel is in the falcon family (Falconidae) and is a relatively small raptor. They are found in most areas of Australia and are also found on islands along Australia’s coastline, as well as New Guinea and Indonesia.
