The Rainermarsch is the regimental march of the former . Infantry Regiment No. 59 Archduke Rainer. The regiment, named after its longtime owner Archduke Rainer, had a special connection to Salzburg through its recruitment area and location, so that today the play is known beyond the borders of Salzburg as its second national anthem.
The march was composed during the First World War by music sergeant Hans Schmid in Galicia and premiered by him as the new Kapellmeister of the regiment on 11 September 1915 in Olyka (Volhynia).
