Cyclone ‘Remal’ to hit Bengal Coast, Sundarbans witnesses dark clouds and speedy winds

Ahead of the arrival of Cyclone ‘Remal’, locals of West Bengal’s Sundarban seemed to enjoy the wind before the storm. Following the notice issued by the Indian Meteorological Department on cyclone ‘Remal’, ferry services have been suspended till May 27 in the wake of the cyclone. The storm is expected to hit costal area of Bangladesh and West Bengal with maximum sustained wind speeds of 110-120 kmph with gusts up to 135 kmph. It is likely to make landfall on May 27 at midnight. NDRF team has been deployed in various parts of West Bengal to combat the cyclonic storm and its aftermath. NDRF personnel made announcements for people in danger-prone areas as a part of their awareness drive. Speaking to ANI, an NDRF official said, “As a precautionary measure, a team from the 2nd battalion of the NDRF have been deployed in Hasnabad and we are fully prepared”.
