Visit Browse our products on Amazon: This is a Kodachrome home movie made by a member of the Amateur Cinema League and titled “Flight From Winter“; this film shows a trip to Florida made in the 1940s. The film begins with a flight on an Eastern Airlines DC-3. The aircraft lands at Washington National Airport and also stops in Savannah, Georgia before finally landing in Florida. There are fascinating images of on-board service and airports and facilities in this era. The rest of the film includes rare images of Florida in beautiful color, including a visit to the Brooklyn Dodgers training camp, the Pan Am Airlines seaplane base, Ringing Brother and Barnum and Bailey Circus winter quarters, Ocala, St. Petersburg, the Keys, Cypress Gardens, and much more. The Goodyear Blimp even makes an appearance. This is a silent, black and white film. Three stars come across the screen in the title, “Flight From Winter” appears. Photographed by Al Schmidt.
