“Òran Eile don Phrionnsa“ - “Another Song for the Prince“ - Scottish Jacobite Song

“Oran Eile Don Phrionnsa” is one of Gaelic songs composed by the Highland bard Alexander MacDonald (Alasdair mac Mhaighstir Alasdair). Hailing from Clan MacDonald of Clanranald, Alasdair possessed the almost unheard of skill, for the time, of being able to read and write in the vernacular Scottish Gaelic language, composing poetry early in his life. The Jacobite Rising of 1745 brought out his lyrical talent, writing numerous songs which found use in recruiting efforts. Throughout the course of the rebellion, Alasdair served as the Makar for the Highland Army, and had even been charged with teaching Prince Charlie Gaelic. “Moch Sa Mhadainn“ Arranged by Bear McCreary, 2016.
