Villa-Lobos - Modinha (Prelúdio) from Bachianas Brasileiras No.1, arr. for Guitar

Heitor Villa-Lobos, one of Brazil’s most celebrated composers, left an indelible mark on the world of classical music with his groundbreaking series of compositions known as the “Bachianas Brasileiras.“ These works seamlessly blend the rich traditions of Brazilian folk music with the formal structure and harmonies of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Baroque compositions. The first of these was originally scored for 8 cellos – at its heart lies a piece of profound lyrical beauty and emotion, the “Modinha.“ Villa-Lobos’ Modinha is a poignant tribute to the Brazilian soul, a masterpiece that stands as a testament to the timeless allure of love and the uniquely Brazilian feeling of ’Saudade’.
