Buddy Rogers vs. Bobo Brazil - WWWA 1/31/1963

World Wide Wrestling Association. Cleveland, Ohio. January 31, 1963. WWWA World Heavyweight Title Texas Death Match. Buddy Rogers (c) vs. Bobo Brazil. “Killer“ Buddy Austin interferes. The graphic in the video says the match was for the US Title but the only known Texas Death match between Rogers and Brazil was for the WWWA World Heavyweight Title. The confusion is likely caused by the title belt shown before the match. It is indeed the former NWA US Title belt but at that time, after losing the NWA World Heavyweight Title to Lou Thesz, Rogers, who continued to claim to be the world champion, used his old US Title belt during his title matches. This same belt was also used for the WWWF World Heavyweight Title. WWWA was a short-lived project by Toots Mondt and Vince McMahon Sr. with a long-time Cleveland promoter Larry Atkins, separate from the World Wide Wrestling Federation in the east coast.
