Biberian’s Prelude #1 was composed just after Ida Presti’s passing in Spring 1967, the score is marked “Allegro Furioso“. Gilbert’s feeling of absolute impotence facing Presti’s death at the outset is tempered by his relative acceptance of the fact towards the end; but nevertheless ends with a triple forte cry of “damn it“.
