Sylvia Mason: Sylvia Mason [Full Album + Bonus] (1979)

20-year-old Sylvia Mason was catapulted into her 15 minutes of disco fame as the lead singer on Voyage’s second album, Fly Away, which had her flying From East To West in 1979 to promote it. She found herself in the studio with the Voyage guys and their producer Roger Tokarz again for a full album in her own name, released in October that year. We’ve Gotta Dance was released as the lead single, followed by You’re Like A Silent Movie, but both met with little success only, Dance peaking at a modest #70 in the US Disco Charts. She since became a much sought-after session singer, providing backing vocals for Miquel Brown, Barbara Pennington, Go West, Blow Monkeys, James Last, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Right Said Fred, Cher (“Strong Enough“), Lionel Richie, Enrique Iglesias, Will Young, and many more. She was an uncredited vocalist on Jimmy Nail’s 1992 No. 1 hit Ain’t No Doubt, and she has toured with Pet Shop Boys, Robbie Williams, and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd. 00:00 We’ve Gotta Dance 06:45 Shadow In The Sun 11:27 Hello Superduper Star 16:48 Somebody Loves You 21:43 You’re Like A Silent Movie 25:40 Closer To Heaven 30:18 Afraid Of Love Bonus Tracks: 34:03 We’ve Gotta Dance (Instrumental) 39:50 Shadow In The Sun (Instrumental) 45:07 Hello Superduper Star (Instrumental) 50:33 Somebody Loves You (Instrumental) 55:15 We’ve Gotta Dance (Single Version)
