Harmonic Portrait - Thelonious Monk (’Round Midnight)

Harmonic Portrait - Thelonious Monk (’Round Midnight) Get the Study (chord diagrams with clearly labeled soprano notes video/audio) here: In this chordal study series I seek to depict and illustrate the magical character of some of my favorite musicians expressed through my own harmonic brush just like an artist painting a portrait. This episode is dedicated to the legacy and memory of one of the most original voices in jazz - the great Thelonious Monk. This is my take on one of his most beautiful compositions - “’Round Midnight.” If you like to further expand your knowledge and understanding as to how I approach re-harmonization and arranging on the guitar and the concepts at play in this particular chord-melody you can check out the following publications at my official Gumroad bookstore here: The Harmony Tree (Pedal Point Harmonic Explorations) Undercover Substitutions (CHROMATONAL ii-V7-I) Short Harmonic Sketch #1 (Wild ii-V7-I) Sus4 Re-Harmonization Diametric Harmony Part I: the ii chord (minor 7) Harmonic Reflections (Mirroring Resolution ii-V7-I) Harmonic Reflections (Altered Refractions) ENCLOSED - Harmonic Enclosures (minor chords / Dorian) The Reharm Farm (Modern Re-Harmonization Studies) Materials Included: Re-harmonization study (PDF): all chord diagrams of the arrangement in order with clearly labeled soprano melody notes.
