Volcano Sheveluch eruption for half a century this was not

On the night of April 11, the Shiveluch volcano erupted in Kamchatka. Due to the high altitude of the pheat emissions, a red aviation hazard code was introduced. This was reported by the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. According to the institute’s website, the eruption is potentially dangerous for air travel in the Kamchatka region due to the high altitude of pheat emissions and plume clouds that can stretch hundreds of kilometers from the volcano in various directions. According to seismic data, the release height was 20 km. According to updated information, the ash reached a height of 16 km. The service noted that the ash cloud follows a westerly direction, its size is about 400 by 250 km. In particular, strong ashfalls were recorded in the settlements of Klyuchi, Mayskoye and Kozyrevsk. The administration of the Keys reported that due to the volcanic eruption, classes for schoolchildren on April 11 will be held remotely.
