140601 Qinghai-Tibet Railway

On our many trips around the world, we always experience something very special. This also includes the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, which takes us from Llasa (Tibet) to Xining (China) on June 1, 2014. The train ride over the Tibetan high plateau is spectacular! Several world records are set on the 1956 km - 550 km of which is over permafrost. With an apex of 5,072 meters, it is the highest railway line on earth. We pass the highest train station in the world (Tanggula, 5,068 m) and the highest tunnel in the world (4,905 m). The weather is fantastic and we marvel at the unique mountain landscape through the large panoramic windows. It changes constantly and is never boring. Our soft sleeper cabin is very clean and the beds are comfortable. #Tibet #China #Qinghai-Tibet
