Henryk Sztompka playing Chopin’s op. 50 no. 3 mazurka, This was part of the opening of the 1949 Chopin competition -- the first competition following the war, and the centenary of Chopin’s death.. It was important enough for Boleslaw Bierut to give a speech at the opening ceremony. Sztompka studied with Turczynski and Paderewski. At the first Chopin competition in 1927 he won the award for best mazurkas. Thanks to the Warsaw Documentary Film Studio (WFDiF) for making this available.
