Lavrov says US threatens multilateralism; China questions ’rules-based intl order’

During a recent session at the UN Security Council, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov criticized Western actions by US-led NATO, accusing them of trying to extend their influence to the Asia-Pacific regions. The Russian top diplomat also highlighted remarks made by John Kirby of the Biden administration, suggesting that European allies of the US will suffer the consequences. In his speech, the Russian Foreign Minister proposed steps to restore international trust and stability, emphasizing the need to address the root causes of the crisis in Europe, specifically the situation in Ukraine. China’s U.N. Ambassador, Fu Cong, also weighed in on the fairness of the “rules-based international order“. In response, US Ambassador to the UN accused Russia of not taking multilateral discussions seriously as Lavrov chaired the meeting of the Council on multilateral cooperation in the interests of a more just, democratic and sustainable world order. Britain’s U.N. Ambassador condemned Russia’s military actions in Ukraine as violations of international law. __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents.
