China’s Long March-7 Rocket Arrives at Site for Pre-launch Testing in Hainan.
China’s new generation carrier rocket Long March-7 was transported to a rocket launch site in Wenchang City of south China’s Hainan Province on Saturday for pre-launch testing, according to the China Manned Space Engineering Office.
The carrier rocket, typed as the Long March-7 Yao-2, will carry China’s first cargo spacecraft Tianzhou-1 into space in April, said the office.
The Long March-7 rocket series feature a number of new technologies such as the adoption of liquid oxygen and kerosene as the fuel for its engine. The rocket has a loading capacity up to 13.5 tons, and its stereotype completed its maiden flight mission on June 25, 2016 from the launch site in Wenchang.
Based on the stereotype, the Yao-2 type was optimized to adapt to the technical adjustments of the Tianzhou-1.
