Fan Video-The Model by Kraftwerk

This isn’t the official music video, this is just me screwing around between jobs again. I’ve liked Kraftwerk since the early 80s when I first heard one of their songs. Their music is the forerunner of today’s rave music. This is probably my favorite Kraftwerk song. Its probably everyone else’s, too, considering how many covers have been done of it. I love its simplicity, yet its a very mainstream sounding song even while kepeing its techno edge. It’s probably their most mainstream hit. It’s simple but made with a computer-music style that makes it a great combination. For a long time I thought about making this video. It was originally going to be just Victoria’s Secret video from their annual shows, just girl after girl. But that would have been boring. Then I was inspired by the group’s original music video. So I searched for archival footage of fashion models and runway models, and chose not to include video of the band. I think my favorite footage has to be the futuristic 1969 footage of the girls on the rooftop in slow-motion. Its from a Pierre Cardin promo. I love the odd, yet stylized look the fashion & slow-motion give the film. It’s so very late-60s. Of course, as an homage to George Michael and his fantastic videos featuring models, I had to include footage from his best videos. “Too Funky“ and “Freedom 90“ are my favorites. Simply great videos. The first model you see is, of course, Twiggy. Near the end is Tyra Banks from “Too Funky.“ I think Linda Evanglista is in there. The only other famous one I think is the absolutely stunningly gorgeous Claudia Schiffer, whom I love. The “Too Funky“ video is probably one of the best videos I’ve seen. It’s fun, its got gorgeous women, and its very well edited. As usual, comments are welcome, haters are not. Thanks a lot for watching. “Das Modell“ (“The Model“) by Kraftwerk, released in 1978 in Germany as a single. Included on the worldwide 1981 album “Die Mensch-Maschine“ (“The Man-Machine“). EMI Kling Klang, Germany EMI Capitol, UK .
