Firefighters rescue, evacuate people trapped by floods in Beijing

For more: Firefighters rushed to flooded areas in Beijing to rescue and evacuate trapped residents as heavy rainfall continued to lash the Chinese capital and its neighboring Hebei Province on July 31. The downpour also flooded multiple road sections in downtown Mentougou District in west Beijing. Firefighters used ropes to guide trapped residents safely across the road. Flood prevention authorities in Beijing announced that as of 8 p.m. on Monday, 52,384 residents had been relocated in response to the rainstorms. Meanwhile, 107 roads in mountainous areas have been sealed off, and 4,069 construction sites have been suspended.
