Storms in France! Marseille is sinking!

A violent thunderstorm literally flooded the center of Marseille on Wednesday, September 4th. Within a very short time, the city center was under water - a dramatic situation that posed great challenges for both residents and rescue workers. Torrential rain hit not only the city of Marseille, but also 12 other departments, which were placed under an orange weather warning by Météo-France. This Wednesday, the city of Marseille and its region were victims of a strong storm, the largest since October 2021. Several sectors of the city were flooded, including the Old Port. The Marseille region saw a cumulative rainfall of about 50 millimetres per hour. Firefighters carried out about fifty operations. No casualties were reported, emergency services intervened only to repair minor material damage.
