1976 -- “THE BICENTENNIAL YEAR“ A Bicentennial Salute to the music of Dr. Jack Kilpatrick (Professor Emeritus of Music Theory and Composition at Southern Methodist University) Kilpatrick’s “Clarinet Quintet“, Op. 115, performed live, on February 21st, 1976, by the University of Oklahoma Clarinet Quintet. The quintet members are Stephen Clark​ -- clarinet soloist, Karen Schnackenberg -- 1st violin, Patti Hall -- 2nd violin, Ted Bruehl -- viola, and Dolly Berry -- cello. This was an Oklahoma University-sponsored lecture-recital honoring the late Dr. Kilpatrick (1915-1967), a Cherokee Indian, born and raised in Stilwell, Oklahoma. ***Kilpatrick, a prolific composer, also wrote the original incidental music for Samuel Beckett’s play, “Waiting for Godot“ (for the original Broadway production).
