S2E01 Helical Pile & Wooden Lattice Foundations for our Self-Build Wooden House

House works kick off with the foundations - obviously! - where for the first time we brought in some pros to get the job done 👍 Our ground study showed some water where we are building the house, which means that even if we were fans of concrete (which we aren’t - see S01E01! 😂), it’s really not the right method for our project. Techno Pieux (Toulouse) led by Julien Pondaven (06 61 83 79 42) were brilliant, and put in 22 steel piles, some up to 6m deep, in a single day! 💪 This option is cleaner & chemical free, with no auxiliary destruction or piles of earth to move, and was significantly cheaper than the alternatives which use concrete... Result! The installation of piles was followed with a lattice-work of pre-treated (against mold & bug infestation) and pre-cut - according to our engineers plans - wooden beams. Our local supplier - JCD Materiaux (05 53 65 53 05) - really knows wood as a building element, and his delivery driver
