CyberElegans 2010

Abstract: C. elegans nematode currently is the only animal with almost known neural network architecture. Moreover, its structure, including neurons positions, morphological features and interneuron connections is invariant for all animals of one sex. Relative simplicity but still quite complex behavioral patterns provide incomparable perspectives for systems neurobiology. During last decades C. elegans was extensively studied both with experimental methods and via computer simulations, providing comprehensive data about it. Here we present a detailed concept of virtual C. elegans aimed to consolidate these data in a functional form of 3D dynamic model. In this paper we describe our recent results and outline the perspectives of further work, now as a part of international research group: OpenWorm project, --- Presented at the Ershov Informatics Conference (PSI’2011) / Workshop on Science Intensive Applied Software, 27 June -- 1
