Red Munia romance at Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, India

Shot in June 2012 - Red Munia - Amandava amandava; I saw many of these birds calling from inside a dense lantana thicket - I was nearly at ground level when I saw a few pairs all huddled up together.. The birds with red on the head are males, and the plainer looking birds are females. This being the start of the breeding season, the male shown in the beginning is starting to acquire breeding plumage - in peak breeding plumage, the male is red all over.
