ASTIMKI Geet || KRISHNA JANMASTAMI || KANHAK JALAM DIN || RAPTISONARI GAUN PALIKA ASTIMKI VIDEO || ========================================================================== Ashtimki or Krishna Jalam Din, also known simply as Krishna Janmashtami, is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. According to the Hindu lunisolar calendar, it is observed on the eighth tithi (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in Bhadrapada Masa. This overlaps with August or September of the Gregorian calendar. “Ashtimki is a festival celebrated by the Tharu Community in the Western Part of Nepal. It is celebrated on the day of Krishna Janmashtami. The people of Tharu community prepare a picture on this day called as Ashtimki Chitra.“ Tharus celebrate Ashtimki by fasting, praying together, singing etc. Making of this documentary’s purpose is to show Tharu Tribe’s originality, preserve the Tribal Cultures and ritual activities etc.
