At Home with Timothy Corrigan at Château de la Chevallerie

Tag along to the northernmost Loire Valley in France for a behind the scenes visit with acclaimed designer Timothy Corrigan at his 17th century French country home, Château de la Chevallerie. After searching far and wide all over France, visiting over 50 properties, Timothy was immediately enchanted by La Chevallerie. This was not Tim’s first chateau rodeo - over the years, he has purchased and renovated three other chateaus so he wasn’t intimidated by the dilapidated condition of the chateau, which had been in the same family for almost the full four centuries. Here, over the course of five long years, Timothy painstakingly restored this sleeping beauty into a magnificent refuge surrounded by 90 bucolic acres designed by the landscape architect of the Paris Tuileries Gardens. Learn how Tim’s perseverance and positive attitude saw him through, including overseeing the project during COVID from his Los Angeles home and dealing with many set backs including disappearing workmen. While retaining all the exquisite architectural details, from magnificent boiserie to parquet de Versailles floors, Timothy updated the entire chateau with new roofs, electricity, plumbing, central heating and air conditioning as well as 13 new bathrooms. It is the perfect melding of old and new - a historic chateau fit for 21st century living. It is this primary concern for comfort and of course beauty that also drove the decoration. You’ll hear how Timothy assembled many of the furnishings and art from auction houses and French markets for an effortless mix of styles and periods and how his love of portraits culminated in the spectacular grand entrance. But most of all, you’ll see how Timothy has created a house that nourishes the soul. You’ll be inspired, informed and entertained. Big thank you to video sponsor Benjamin Moore (whose paints are now available in Europe).
