It is a short, fast-paced work in the Romanian hora style, and has become a favorite encore of violinists, especially in Jascha Heifetz’s 1932 arrangement. The piece calls for exceptional mastery of the staccato of both the high and low bow. The character of the piece also requires that the notes be articulated crisply and clearly so that the liveliness of the music comes through.
