Upper Mustang, CNN’s destination of the year 2023 One of the sacred and restricted area in Nepal which is located behind the snowcapped mountains and now accessible even with the transport. The area which remains closed for the foreigners until 1992 and as they opened there was no infrastructures so people were able to go only doing camping but now a days, they have constructed accommodation so one can stay in guest houses and small lodges. The area is extended up to Tibet border and people even do motorbike tour to this area. Lo-Manthang which was founded by the first king of Mustang back in 1441 AD remained the center of attraction. About 180 families live inside the walled town of Lo-Manthang. Now the extension has taken place outside the walled town as tourism has started growing in this area. Besides Lo-Manthang there are lots of other villages of great interest in the area. The area is famous for its culture which is maintained since long time, the landscape and environment.
