HiRISE Mars 4K (NASA): This Bed o’ Dunes

Matara Crater is a favorite of ours to image owing to the massive and gorgeous sand sheet that dominates the floor. We often image these dunes for the gullies that form on them, some due to carbon dioxide ice. Matara is located in Noachis Terra and is 48 kilometers (30 mi) in diameter.
