TOSHIRO MIFUNE BIOGRAPHY: Mifune in Japanese Army in WW2

Toshiro Mifune is probably the most recognized face in the West of any Japanese actor, thanks in large part to the 16 films he made with director Akira Kurosawa: Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Throne of Blood and other classics. Mifune’s life before acting, however, is not so well known. In this video we explore Mifune’s early life growing up in Manchuria, China, and the six years he spent in the Imperial Japanese Army during the Sino-Japanese War and World War Two.
