Gruyères Switzerland, Swiss medieval town with castle and HR Giger Museum 4K

Gruyères is in the mountains in Switzerland. It is a Swiss medieval town with a lot of history. In the Canton of Fribourg in Switzerland’s French-speaking part, Romandie, Gruyères is famous for its cheese of the same name. It is a medieval town with beautiful, well preserved buildings and a cobbled main street. It is dominated by its castle, Château de Gruyères or Gruyères Castle. This town in the Alps is home to the HR Giger Museum, Swiss artist and creator of the set for Ridley Scott’s film Alien. Giger bought the Château St Germain to house his art and since 1998 has been a museum. Visiting it is an amazing if slightly disturbing experience with its dark walls, ornate carvedf floor and paintings and sculptures in Giger’s unique biomechical style, merging machinery with humanoid figures and borrowing from sexual, occult and Greek mythological themes. Across the road is the Giger Bar, designed by Giger himself. With its alien bones lining the wall
