Irwin who was a Ph.D. Professor of Health Education at Boston University and it was produced by Coronet Films (also known as Coronet Instructional Media Inc.) which was a leading producer and distributor of many American documentary shorts shown in public schools from 1934 - 1997. This film is a remake of the film “Joan Avoids a Cold ’’ which was produced in 1947. This film was made to help teach children about how they can avoid getting sick. It also portrays the ideal American nuclear family, suburban life, and gender role conventions from its time period.
