Sled-Sliders (1932)

Full titles read: “Sled-sliders. We came across these queer ’sportists’ on the Continent... and all you need is boxwood, bones and beef to push along.“ Germany? M/S of several men standing on little sleds / sledges, pushing themselves along over the ice with long poles; women in traditional Bavarian (?) costume sit on the sledges and enjoy the ride. The men are seen cleaning or greasing the bones (yes, animal bones!) on the underside of their sleds. Various shots of the men moving along over the ice, some fall over (lots of laughter from the watching crowd), others jump over little hurdles and try to keep their balance. Brilliant shot of the men lying on their stomachs on the sledges as they move over the icy ground. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
