Crocodile filmed strolling casually through Indian town

While ‘nice weather for ducks’ is a popular saying, ‘nice weather for crocodiles’ is considerably less popular. Heavy rain in the Indian town of Ratnagiri brought an unexpected visitor with it on Monday, in the form of a crocodile thought to be from the nearby Shiva River. Footage captured by locals shows the crocodile having a casual stroll through the town, enjoying the weather and generally minding its own business. The possibility that it just wanted to ask for directions has not been ruled out. Crocodile sightings have increased over recent years, becoming increasingly common in the region as a side effect of monsoon rains. Locals are split between annoyance at authorities for seemingly ignoring the problem, and the opinion that the animals are harmless and that locals should make friends with them. We’d suggest not attempting to befriend a crocodile, even if it is asking for directions.
