Continua XXL Online: Sun Yuan & Peng Yu present Can’t Help Myself

We are happy to present our Third Edition of #ContinuaXXL with #SunYuan&PengYu ‘s important installation “Can’t Help Myself” at the 58th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia! Along with a presentation by Sun Yuan about the production of the work. _ “Can’t Help Myself” encourages a consideration of the increasingly mechanized and technological world we live in. Using AI robotics and sensors, the machine works tirelessly to “control” a viscous red liquid which leaves marks and residue in the installation’s pre-determined area. The work points towards man’s relationship to intelligent technology and how this relationship possesses certain vulnerabilities. The robotic arm’s incessant movement, although designed and programmed by the artists and engineers, seems autonomous, unsettlingly reminding the viewer of how man’s control over technology can ultimately mean we become the subjects of its actions in areas like surveillance and security.  _ #ContinuaXXLOnline is an exclusive presentation of
