Rapidly Growing Sunspot May Threaten Earth With Flares and Solar Storms - December 20. 2023.

A tiny spot on the sun’s surface grew over the past 24 hours more than double the size of Earth, potentially threatening our planet with radio blackout-causing solar flares and plasma eruptions that could trigger aurora displays. Now turning to face Earth, sunspot AR3529 is growing rapidly and it has a ’beta-gamma’ magnetic field that poses a threat for strong M-class solar flares. Geoeffective explosions are likely this week. Thanks for watching! #sunspot #solarflare #CME Images credit: AIA/SDO/HMI, Music credit: YouTube Audio Library Blue Mood - Robert Munzinger
