Westpreußenlied [Anthem of West Prussia][+English translation]

The song of West Prussia is a West Prussian regional anthem. The form is inspired by other older home songs, such as “City of Hamburg on the Elbe riverlands“, the Pomeranian song or “Schleswig-Holstein meerumschlungen“. Hugo Hartmann composed in 1902 the West Prussian song. The lyrics are by Paul Felske. In honor of him was founded in 1920 by the then mayor of the West Prussian city of Marienburg, today Malbork in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship, the Hartmann-Felske monument. The monument is located in the city garden of Marienburg. It consists of two boulders, in which the initial notes of the West Prussian song are engraved.
