Cryptic Elegy is a new side project of Devouring Famine, that manifested itself in a demo of five songs originally created for A.’s primary project, but ended up with a sound that didn’t fit the more morose, atmospheric style. Instead, these tracks are fast, feral pieced of dark and dirty punky black metal. Dusty, musty spiked leather with that old school reckless attitude of speedballed mayhem, thrashing into oblivion - still wired with some of that bleak atmosphere, but here it has a rangey, dangerous sparsness to it that adds to its feral hunger.
