USS Ticonderoga CVA-14 conducting bombing raids over North VietNam

In December 1965 the USS Ticonderoga CVA-14, USS Enterprise CVAN-65 and the USS Kitty Hawk CVA-63 headed north for the Gulf of Tonkin a few miles off the Coast of North VietNam. After transferring personnel from the USS Preston DD-795 and fueling up from the USS Neches AO-57. Our mission was to embark on bombing raids over Hanoi with the three Carriers and the B-52 Bombers out of Guam. This was the first time that the Navy and Air Force conducted four waves of bombing during a Carriers were USS Ranger CVA-61 and Hancock CVA-19.
