Valorant Imperium Audio Showcase

Showcase video of the Valorant Imperium weapon skins collection. I was responsible for the overall audio direction, some weapons’ sound design, and mastering/polishing the assets. Since this collection is inspired by Chinese culture, for the tonal “magic“ sounds, we used a lot of heavily processed recordings of traditional Chinese instruments and morphed those samples with fireworks recordings. To support the visual aesthetics and represent the solid feeling of the jade during the weapons handling, we recorded a lot of interactions and impacts of the heavy glass blocks. The biggest challenge when working on premium skins for a live e-sports title is keeping the audio consistent with the base “vanilla“ guns to avoid breaking the competitive integrity while making those sounds unique enough to support the visual aesthetics. It’s always about finding the right balance. I’m thrilled with the result and can’t wait to share more exciting stuff with our fantastic players in the future!
