Mushroom Broth Recipe to Strengthen your Immune System | The Frugal Chef
This mushroom broth recipe is easy and very good for your health. You can use any type of mushroom that you want for this. Here are the different properties - Cordyceps for stamina; Lion’s mane for focus; Reishi for stress relief; Shiitake for immune support; Turkey tail for healthy digestion; King trumpet for inflammation. How to make mushrooom broth -
8 cups (2 quarts or 2 liters) water
1/2 an onion - halved6 garlic cloves - smashed
1 stalk celery
1 carrot - halved
2 bay leaves
1/2 tablespoon whole peppercorns
Fresh thyme — a good 12 sprigs
12 dried Shiitake mushrooms*
4 oz. sliced baby Bella mushrooms**
5 oz. fresh Shiitake mushrooms — sliced
Salt
Place all the ingredients in a pot and cover it. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for about 1 hour. Strain the broth. You can keep the mushrooms for further use — mince them and make burgers or a pie or stir fry them.
Keep this is the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for 2 months.
Use the broth for making soups or rice or enjoy it on it’s own for a soothing, mellow treat.
*Dried mushrooms will give the broth a deeper flavor but it you don’t have them it is fine. Use only fresh ones.
