Nikolai Obukhov - "Cendres" from Éternel

Jay Gottlieb, piano Cendres obviously comes from the same vein as his Trois icônes, given the similar harmonic and textural palette. An alternative title for the larger work is Souvenir éternel, which furnishes a more coherent context for the piece’s subtitles, that being Clarté profonde (Profound Clarity), Lumiére noir (Dark Light), Rayons divins (Divine Rays), Statue, & Cendres (Ashes), in that order. Rayons divins and Cendres are the only movements from the piece that are in the edition used for this video.
