Charlie Watkins - Solo Clarinet

Charlie Watkins is an exciting new clarinettist on London’s improvised music scene, exploring the nature of experience through complex instrumental techniques, detailed sonic textures, and attention to environmental sound. His solo work emerges from the particularity of its time and place, inviting contemplation and openness to mystery. Tonight’s performance will be an improvisation, lasting for approximately one hour. This is an act of endurance for both performer and listener. Be patient: in the silence, beauty awaits. Charlie is glad to be welcomed back to St Paul’s Harringay tonight, having worked here with a summer team two years ago. He will end the evening by sharing some reflections on the relationship between his music and his Christian faith.
