MASSIVE Forklift Loading Fail! It’s not often we do these massive forklifts, but I’m glad I was finally able to record one! We’ve winched these out before but never straight lifted one, let alone with just two rotators.
I responded in Hulk, my 50ton rotator, followed by Alex in Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator. The job came in from a broker that listed it as a “70,000lbs forklift“. First of all, yes I know I should have verified by Googling it or going on Ritchie Specs. It seemed awfully large to only weigh that much. Now that that’s out of the way, you’ll see how we quickly adapted to the actual weight by utilizing these trucks to their max.
Big Flipper is STRONG, but even off the side it was too heavy. We solved this by backing up to the forklift. This allows Alex to lift and push, opposed to lifting and swinging this big load. The plan worked great once we found our groove. I know all the experts with hindsight vision would have done it right the first time, but adapting new strategies is all part of the plan.
