Harry McGowan plays The Killavil Jig - Connacht Fleadh 2022 Sligo #connachtfleadh

The Killavil is a famous jig from the Sligo tradition of great fiddle players, from Michael Coleman to James Morrison to Paddy Killoran, a tune that all households would have grown up playing over the years. Here, Sligo flute player Harry McGowan who lives at the bottom of the sacred mountain of Knocknashee, gives his rendition of the tune and gives a deeper understanding of where the tune came from and what its importance is in the tradition of music in south Sligo. This is the final tune in this series. To discover the background to more great Sligo tunes, follow the Connacht Fleadh Facebook page and search in our videos section.
