This small hot spring town is tucked away in the mountains of Yamagata, about 1.5 hours away from Zao. The small town is lined with a beautiful street of traditional japanese inns, each with their own private onsen baths. The town is so secluded that it takes a short bus ride from the nearest parking lot, and a 30 min walk back at night, since the busses stop running early.
