Bach - Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland BWV 659 - Van Doeselaar | Netherlands Bach Society

This arrangement of ’Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland’, performed by Leo van Doeselaar for All of Bach, is full of mystical expectation, which is underlined by the ‘quiet’ performance of this performance. Although Bach borrowed the form from Buxtehude, in style BWV 659 would not be amiss as the middle movement of an Italian concerto. All the elements are present: a walking bass, a duet of middle voices, and a leading upper voice. Recorded for the project All of Bach on June 23rd 2014 at the Walloon Church, Amsterdam.
